Term of the Day #2

Knew about moiré fabric with its signature wavy, watermarked appearance. The use of the term in photography was new to me.

Moiré: a pattern visible in digital images, usually waves that appear when the repetitive nature of a detail exceeds the resolution of the camera’s ability to differentiate the distinctive details in the actual subject.
–Definition from Digital Photo Glossary

I’ve seen moiré in photos, but didn’t know until today what the effect was called.
